RIM Blackberry 8700c (Cingular Wireless)

From the Website:

Purchase the 8700c and get a FREE Bluetooth Wireless Headset! The stylish RIM BlackBerry 8700c is a new breed of wireless device. Still the best mobile email solution on the market, this RIM BlackBerry remains perfect for mobile professionals. Plus, in the thinner, lighter, more contoured body sports a complete phone, backlit QWERTY keyboard, convenient track wheel, full HTML browser, EDGE high-speed data, viewer software for Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Bluetooth and quad-band GSM to maximize your on-the-go potential - but in more style than before. Design-wise, the 8700c is a nice upgrade from BlackBerry devices of the past. Yes, the same handy jog dial is present on the right side, and yes, you’ll still find a full QWERTY keypad. This device is thinner and lighter, however, and the screen is bigger and brighter than ever; the high resolution 320 x 240 LCD display supports over 65,000 colors. Plus, intelligent light-sensing technology automatically optimizes screen lighting levels for indoor and outdoor viewing. The 8700c also features large, dedicated send and end keys for easier call management. Many of the calling capabilities folks have come to expect in a wireless phone are present, but the 8700c ups the ante with MP3 ringtones. Plus, the built-in speakerphone offers hands-free calling and convenient conference calls. The unit’s Bluetooth capability (version 2.0) means you can use a wireless headset with the phone for hands-free calling. A vibrating alert, speed dial, and a contacts list/address book (limited only by the unit’s 64 MB of internal memory) are also included. The 8700c is a quad-band phone designed for global roaming in 170 countries for voice and 90 countries for data. The 8700c delivers the legendary BlackBerry e-mail experience. With Cingular’s BlackBerry service plans, you can receive e-mails instantaneously from up to 10 e-mail accounts (personal and enterprise). With BlackBerry push technology, you don’t need to retrieve your e-mail. BlackBerry devices are designed to remain on and continuously connected to the wireless network, allowing you to be discreetly notified as new e-mail arrives. Support is also built-in for viewing e-mail attachments (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, and PDF formats). Because the 8700c is fast, and because it supports EDGE high-speed data networks, users can take advantage enterprise applications that are wirelessly enabled by the BlackBerry platform, such as sales force automation, field service automation, network and systems management, and more.

Worth a second look, right?!

Lowrance iWay 500c Review on CNet

Bloged in Gadgets, Wireless by All Handhelds Thursday April 13, 2006 at about 12:58 pm

Click HERE for the C/Net’s Editors review of the Lowrance iWay 500c.

While it isn’t cheap for anyone who isn’t an NBA star, it’s apparently just about as good as it gets.

Lowrance’s 45 years in the navigation business show in its iWay 500c, one of the sharpest vehicle GPS systems we’ve seen to date. Priced at around $800, the iWay isn’t cheap, but it’s still more affordable than other top performers, such as the Garmin StreetPilot 2620 and the Magellan RoadMate 700, and it includes everything you’ll need to start navigating right out of the box. It also has a built-in MP3 player with lots of room to store your favorite tunes. But more importantly, it’s a great navigation device with accurate directions and strong reception, leaving the competition in the dust. Read ON….

Laptop Lap Desk

Bloged in Wireless, Laptop Computers by All Handhelds Saturday February 25, 2006 at about 8:46 am

I may not have decided on which laptop I want to buy (though it’s down to 4 now!), but I’ve found its pedastal. The Laptop Lap Desk (SP001) from Sharper Image appears to be just what I’m looking for when I f-i-n-a-l-l-y bring a laptop home.

It’ll be perfect for times I’m away from my desk or the comfort of my favorite table at my favorite coffee house.

Features:

  • Lightweight - designed for comfort and stability.
  • Rubberized underside keeps the desk from slipping off of your lap.
  • Dual risers elevate your laptop so your computer’s cooling fans work to keep the computer — and your lap — from getting too warm.
  • Features a convenient built-in handle and it’s sized to fit most laptop carry cases.

Easy enough. If only everything was this cut and dry!
